Fascia is the connective tissue covering muscles, bones, nerves, organs and vessels. It can become rigid, dehydrated and "glued-down" during periods of stress or where there is lack of movement. This scenario often leads to pain, discomfort and possible injury. Working fascia can relieve pain. Ideally fascia is supple and well hydrated.

Targeting the fascia can return it to its fluid-like nature that can lead to an improved posture, a reduction of chronic pain and an enhancement of pain free movement. It allows for easy movement and healthy interchange of nutrients and waste products.

The goal of myofascial release is to stimulate overall body awareness, reduce patterns of strain and to help prevent overuse injuries. Fascia is multidirectional connective tissue that spreads throughout the body as a three-dimensional web from head to foot.
